Team and Project Management Values

In our IT school, when we present a course on Project Management, we often joke that this is the most complex IT profession and that project manager is not a manager (like the dream of most people is to manage), but a problem solver. From my experience of managing digital projects, social projects, I am convinced that project management is more about team management and that this is an art. It is about team management in IT projects that I want to share my experience.

In our country (Belarus), the IT industry is quite young, but it is developing very rapidly. Every year we need 30,000 people in different kinds of teams, and it so happens that these are mostly young generation people, whose average age is from 18 to 30 years. These people’s lives are based on entirely different values and concepts. Understanding this requires the project manager to implement new management systems and more conscious approaches to team interaction.

We have accumulated all our experience in managing projects and people, and I want to share the necessary understanding, my personal experience. In our school, we pass this knowledge to teenagers, teaching them how to create their own IT project so that they can fit more easily into the modern world, where technology rules. Project management is not a profession but an essential skill in achieving career success.
